Second-generation Iranian-Americans share their authentic experiences of being Iranian in heritage while forging their own American stories in a world-premiere show offered by The Braid (formerly Jewish Women’s Theatre). A cast of Persian actors and musicians deliver ten touching and transformative stories in Persian Sunrise, American Sunset, opening Saturday, June 19. Among the tales: a young teenager can’t shave her legs or have a boyfriend without her mother thinking she’s “impure,” a young gay man struggles for acceptance from his terminally ill mother, an Orange County child is shaken awake by a SWAT team and keeps the secret into adulthood. A must-see experience from the go-to Jewish story company that pioneered a unique blend of storytelling and theater.
