Yalda: Winter Solstice in Persian Poetry

Yalda: Winter Solstice in Persian Poetry. 6-7 p.m.

In Persian literature and culture, the longest night of the year is celebrated as a night of gathering, poetry reading, festivities, respecting mother nature and hoping for a prolific spring. In this workshop, Dr. Max Rahni will talk about the representations of this solar event in Persian poetry and culture.
We will celebrate winter solstice with poetry while we gather virtually via Zoom.
This program will be presented in Persian Language. To sign up, email mnaderi@lapl.org

In the second part, the persian-speaking, Angelino poets will share their poetry in an open mic style.
