For the first time and for day only a private collection of paintings by Mokarameh Ghanbari is on display at the Bowers Musem. Featuring"Mokarrameh, Memories and Dreams,” a documentary by Iranian filmmaker Ebrahim Mokhtari, followed by a panel discussion with Elaheh Amani and Maryam Seyhoun. The program includes live instrumental Persian music by Mehrdad Naghibian, & live dance performance by Golsanam Dance & Music Company.

Mokarrameh Ghanbar (1928 - October 24, 2005) born in the
Village of Darikhaneh in Mazandaran , Iran, was a
heuristic and self-made painter who began painting at the
age of 63 and won several international talent prizes.
Mokarrameh’s paintings using bright, original colors
inspired by the beautiful natural surroundings of her
neighborhood, and within a few years her works were
noticed by painters in Iran and internationally. Despite
her great talent, she has never received any formal
training in painting. Mokarrameh died at the age of 77
and is buried in the courtyard of her house.
