PEACE DAY - 17th Annual Anti-Violence Day at Sizdeh Bedar Irvine

Ongoing project of the Anti-Violence Campaign,
The International Health & Epidemiology Research Center (IHERC) will be hosting its 17th Annual ANTIVIOLENCE
DAY (PEACE DAY) with the goal of violence-prevention and intervention. At this event, after
being educated about the hazards of real and toy guns, and violence in general, children will turn in their
toy weapons and violent video games for a certificate and reward. The collected weapons will then be
used by the children, themselves, to create works of art.

The event will take place within the annual Seezdah-Bedar festival in Irvine, which is attended by over
30, 000 people, to celebrate the thirteenth day of the Persian New Year (Norooz). This holiday is widely
celebrated around the world by Iranians as a day of peace, as they picnic outdoors and hope for a new
year of health and happiness. Obviously, everyone, from all walks of life, is more than welcome and
invited!
